PLEASE NOTE

     IF  KNOTS CRASHES WHEN YOU RUN IT THE FIRST TIME,  YOUR
     COMPUTER  CAN  PROBABLY NOT DISPLAY IN  EGA.  EDIT  THE
     FILE "KNOTS.INI" AND CHANGE "GraphicMode" TO CGA OR HGA
     AND RUN KNOTS AGAIN.

USEFUL KEYS

   Tab, Shift+Tab
        - Moves the Selection from link to links

   Enter  
        - Follows the current link

   Vertical Arrows, Page Up, Page Down, Home
        - Scroll through the current page

   Left Arrow
        - Back to previous page

   Right Arrow
        - Forwards to next page

   'T'
        - To follow a link by typing its number. (Obsolescent)

   'U'
        - To display the destination URL of a link. (Obsolescent)

   F10
        - Displays Information about Knots

   F1
        - Displays Help

   F8, Ctrl+F8
        - Open a .HTM file, any file

   Alt+X
        - Exit Knots

CONFIGURATION FILE

To change an option:

• type EDIT KNOTS.INI [Enter]
• Locate the line containing the option you want to change (such as GraphicMode=EGA).
• Replace the text after the EQUALS sign by the new value for the option (such as CGA - The result will then be GraphicMode=CGA)

Please ensure you leave no spaces surrounding the EQUALS sign.

GraphicMode
        - The most important setting, if it is set to a mode the computer
        cannot handle, the computer may crash. The low quality CGA value
        should work on most PCs.

DisplayLocation
        - Allows you to hide the location bar at the top of Knots display.
        Provided in case you need to view more lines text on the screen.

FatFile
        - Use this option to specify the filename of your FAT File.
        The FAT (File Allocation Table) lets you associate remote URLs
        to their location on the local file system.
        If you have downloaded a web site, you may find it interesting
        to add a line to the FAT for each page, using the format 
        <URL><SPACE><DOS FILENAME>. Any links pointing to that URL will
        then use the local file you specified.
        
        For example, follow this link to pretend these pages are hosted
        on the Knots Web site

LinkNumbers
        - Lets you to display numbers associated with each link.
        Just in case you prefered the old Knots user interface.

HomePage
        - Type here the URL of the file you want to be displayed first
        when starting KNOTS.
