I'm sure at some point in your life you have. It's easy to set goals, but extremely hard to meet them. GOAL TENDER is a goal organizer that helps you stay focused on the task at hand. Record the goals that are important to you and review them periodically with GOAL TENDER. You can even set up the SCHEDULE program, also published on this issue, to display one of your goals each day. Please read the SCHEDULE documentation for details! ^1MAIN MENU^0 ^1=========^0 The Main Menu appears on the bottom line of the screen and contains the following options: Help - Displays helpful information about GOAL TENDER New - Clears the current Goal List from memory Load - Provides ability to select and load a Goal List kept on disk Add - Add a Goal to the current Goal List Browse - Provides the ability to view, edit or delete Goals in the current Goal List Print - Print the current Goal List Save - Select an existing file or create a new file to save the current Goal List in Exit - Exit the program and return to DOS Use the and arrow keys to move the highlight bar to the menu function of your choice and press . When you first run the program a welcome screen appears in a window located in the center of the screen. Once you Load or Add a Goal to the Goal List, the welcome screen disappears and the current Goal List is displayed. You can use the and arrow keys or and to browse through the list. Once you select a menu function, the screen clears and that function's screen is displayed. While using any of the program functions, a help bar is located on the bottom line of the screen listing the available keys. ^1BROWSE MENU^0 ^1===========^0 The Main Menu Browse function provides a secondary menu that contains Change, Delete, Next, and Previous functions. The Change and Delete functions work on the currently displayed Goal. The Next and Previous functions allow you to move through the Goal List one item at a time. Use the and arrow keys to move the highlight bar to the function desired and press to select that function. You can return to the Main Menu by selecting Main Menu from the Browse Menu or by pressing . ^1GOAL REMINDER^0 ^1=============^0 GOAL TENDER can also be used to remind you of the goals you have set. The program provides the ability of random selection and display of a single goal or display of the entire Goal List in a scrollable window. In either case you select these modes of operation by passing command line parameters to the program when started at the DOS prompt. For an example of how to run GOAL TENDER automatically each day, please read the documentation on the SCHEDULE utility. The final example for SCHEDULE illustrates how GOAL TENDER can be used to display a random goal the first time you start up your computer each day. ^CRandom Display Display a randomly selected Goal from the Goal List by typing at the DOS prompt: ^CGoal -R -F Filename Once the program loads the file, one of the goals in the list will be selected and displayed. Press any key to return to the DOS prompt. ^CComplete Display Display the entire Goal List by typing at the DOS prompt: ^CGoal -C -F Filename Once the program loads the file, the list is displayed in a window located in the center of the screen. Use the arrow, arrow, and keys to move through the list. Once you have finished reviewing the list, press to return to the DOS prompt. ^1SETTING DISPLAY OPTIONS^0 ^1=======================^0 GOAL TENDER provides one final command line parameter that allows you to force the program to display everything in its monochrome settings. This is particularly useful when running the program on laptop computers. To run the program in monochrome mode, type: ^CGOAL M This parameter can be used in combination with the random and completed display options. For example, you could also type: ^CGOAL M -R -F Filename or GOAL M -C -F Filename ^COutside BBD To run this program outside ^1Big Blue Disk^0, type: ^1GOAL^0.
